About us
History
COMVEC-Modellbau was founded in 2013 by Dipl.-Ing. Sebastian Bucher and others with the aim of offering functional models with the highest standards of detail and functional fidelity. From the very beginning, COMVEC models were deliberately designed to be compatible with models from other manufacturers. The scales 1:14.5 and 1:14 were therefore primarily chosen. This results in the best possible interaction with models from other manufacturers such as PREMACON®, ScaleArt® or Wedico® in 1:14.5 scale, or Tamiya® in our 1:14 scale.
COMVEC is the abbreviation for Commercial Vehicle. Thus, the meaning of the company name already shows the role model and the origin of our models.
From the very beginning, however, the focus was not only on scale model making, i.e. model making that is as detailed and functional as possible. COMVEC-Modellbau quickly became known for scale manufacturing - or miniature mechanical engineering as we call it. By this we mean model making with materials and manufacturing processes that are true to the original. In concrete terms, this means that COMVEC models were manufactured from the outset as genuine steel constructions made from individual sheets and micro TIG or laser welded - just like the original models. A construction method that would later be adapted in numerous ways.
From 2020 to 2023, COMVEC-Modellbau was part of PREMACON® as a joint venture.
Present day
Since 2024, COMVEC-Modellbau has been run by Sebastian Bucher, but from now on only as a sideline. Of course, the original aim of creating models with the highest level of detail and functional fidelity has not changed.
The future
From 2024, the COMVEC-Modellbau model range will be successively revised. On the one hand to ensure the continuous availability of selected products, on the other hand to meet the new framework conditions as a sideline. The well-known and popular standard products such as roll-off bodies will therefore primarily be available as unpainted kits in future.
New production methods
In the future, in addition to models made from sheet steel or stainless steel (scale manufacturing / miniature machine construction), more variants made from high-quality industrial 3D printing will also be available. This will enable adaptation to other scales, individualization of individual models and, last but not least, attractive pricing.
Finished models & limited editions
In future, elaborately manufactured and fully assembled finished models will only be available as strictly limited and one-off limited editions.
Transparency
Detailed information is available on all product pages to ensure maximum transparency with regard to the materials used, manufacturing processes and any limitations.
