The different building types of our models
Our models can be divided into three building types. These differ fundamentally in which condition a model is delivered after the purchase. We therefore recommend to consider this small guide before buying. As an example, our roll-off platform, on which the three types are shown, is used.
Type: Finished model
Under a finished model, we understand a completely built and ready-to-use model. To be able to use the model no further assembly work is necessary. If the model is made up of several parts that can be simply plugged in, this has also to be done in case of the finished model. Example: The stanchions and ramps of the finished model of the roll-off platform must be inserted into the corresponding brackets. Finished models are always delivered with powder coating. You can find out more about the available colors here.
Construction type: kit
A kit is what most of the model builders will expect: a collection of parts or assemblies that have to be assembled / screwed / fastened using standard tools. Then the kit may still need to be painted. In case of the roll-off platform consists kit, the version of the model consists of the completely welded main frame, the unassembled and untreated wooden floor and some individual parts. For example, the rollers and the locking bar must be installed. Kits can either be ordered with ready-to-use powder-coated assemblies / parts (more on the available colors can be found here.), or blank for self-lacquering. Non-powder coated kits are sandblasted immediately before delivery and are thus metallic-blanc. They can be painted directly. However, care must be taken that the steel is extremely rust-prone in this condition if it meets moisture! The model should therefore be varnished in a timely manner.
Construction type: Set of parts
For us, a set of parts is the king's discipline of model building. Sets of parts include all components of a model in individual parts (!). These parts are made from laser-cut and partly bend steel parts, from which we from COMVEC also assemble the models. The parts must be cleaned before assembling, as there may be production residues such as oils. A suitable method for joining the individual parts is to be selected for assembly. For example, Welding, soldering or gluing. However, one should always have experience - no matter which procedure is selected! Sets of parts always come with some detailed illustrated instructions in German and English language.
